Gerresheimer has announced a $180 million, 194,000 sq ft expansion of its device manufacturing facilities near Atlanta, GA, USA. The company says that the expansion will create more than 400 new jobs at its Georgia facilities, where it manufactures medical devices including inhalers, bringing its total workforce in Georgia to almost 700.
According to Gerresheimer, an approximately 83,000 sq ft building including 53,800 sq ft of cleanroom area has almost been completed next to its existing Peachtree City plant, with production in the new facility expected to begin by the end of the year. Construction of the second building, which will be a total of 110,000 sq ft and located near the Atlanta Regional Airport, is expected to begin soon, the company said. Production at that site is expected to begin by the end of 2025.
Gerresheimer CEO Dietmar Siemssen commented, “North America is an important growth market for us. The expansion of the site in Peachtree City is of great importance for our medical device business in the USA. The expansion of this site is therefore currently one of the key projects in our global capacity expansions based on long-term customer contracts.”
