California-based nebulizer developer Respira Technologies has announced that Chief Operating Officer Brian Quigley will replace company founder Mario Danek as CEO, and Danek will take over the role of Chief Technology Officer.
Quigley joined the company in 2020 after having spent most of his career in various positions at tobacco company Altria, including a stint as President and CEO of that company’s smokeless tobacco business. Danek, who founded Respira Technologies in 2018, previously co-founded vape company Inhale Health, which sells vape products for delivery of menthol, caffeine, vitamin B12, and melatonin.
Respira Technologies says that it is in talks with the FDA regarding a pathway for approval of a smoking cessation product based on its RespiRx vibrating mesh nebulizer and is “in the midst of securing financing for clinical trials.” According to the company, the RespiRx uses reloadable cartridges to deliver metered doses of drug and works properly regardless of how the patient orients the device.
