Posters on the Podium
Despite the amount of attention paid to sustainability in the podium sessions, none of the eight posters selected for the Posters on the Podium session related to that topic. Only one of the posters selected related to MDIs, one was in the “Focus on Therapeutics” knowledge space, two on nasal delivery, three in the DPI space, and one in the “Aqueous Advances” knowledge space.
The posters selected were:
- A Within-Host Modeling Framework for SARS-CoV-2 Infection to Support Intranasal Vaccine Strategies, Jeffry Schroeter, Applied Research Associates
- In Vitro Regional Deposition of Nasal Sprays in an Idealized Nasal Inlet: Comparison with In Vivo Gamma Scintigraphy, John Chen, University of Alberta
- Influence of Gender on the Disposition of OHet72 after Pulmonary Administration, Margaret Bourlon, University of Oklahoma Health Science Center
- The Combined Effect of Valve and Spray Orifice Diameters on pMDI Plume Force, Benjamin Myatt, Kindeva Drug Delivery
- A Continuous Process for Blending Dry Powders for Inhalation, Jamie Spahn, The University of Texas at Austin
- The Application of Artificial Intelligence in Designing Dry Powder for Inhalation Using Thin-Film-Freezing Technology, Junhuang Jiang, The University of Texas at Austin
- In Vitro Performance of a Pediatric Air-Jet DPI Delivering a Spray-Dried Antibiotic Formulation, Dale Farkas, Virginia Commonwealth University
- Microfluidic Aerosol Generation: Development of a Next Generation Hand-Held Device for Aerosol Drug Delivery, Jason Brenker, Monash University
The Focus on Therapeutics
Several of the Posters on the Podium posters corresponded to podium presentations in The Focus on Therapeutics knowledge space, including a talk by Hui Xin (YY) Ong of Macquarie University and Ab Initio Pharma on “Physiologically Relevant Microfluidic Platforms for High Throughput Preclinical Development”; she is also an author on Brenker’s poster on the use of microfluidics for delivery. In the same session Robert Williams III of The University of Texas at Austin and TFF Pharmaceuticals spoke about, “Pivoting Research to Fight COVID-19: Stabilizing and Delivering Antivirals, Antibodies and Vaccines using Thin Film Freezing”; Williams is an author on Jiang’s poster as well.
In the workshop sessions, Intertek Melbourn offered case studies on “Developing Biologics For Respiratory Delivery.” Only two exhibitors participated in this knowledge space: soft mist inhaler maker Wellbridge and new exhibitor ARE Labs, which offers contract OINDP testing services.
