Inhaled lactose manufacturer DFE Pharma, API manufacturer Sterling, and filling/packaging company Harro Höfliger have partnered to create an early development service for DPIs called “INTO” (Inhalation Together). According to the INTO web site, the partnership will offer API development and characterization services, pre-formulation and formulation studies, and consulting services.
INTO says that it is “a combined service offering collective accountability increasing efficiency and effectiveness and making complex respiratory drug product development simpler, faster, economic, and easier to manage by offering a co-ordinated and aligned suite of services in one team, no gaps, everyone aligned and focused on meeting the clients’ targets, together.”
Sterling Chief Strategy Officer Russell Spencer commented, “We are pleased and excited to launch this novel alliance of skills and expertise providing combined and aligned service to those developing dry powder inhaler products. We believe this is an innovation in the field of complex CDMO support with a virtual model combining only as and when you need it avoiding cost and complexity while delivering a broad service offering.”
