Hovione Technology announced that its 8Shot large dose DPI has won a Red Dot 2020 Product Design Award in the Healthcare Daily Living Aids category. The 8Shot device is an 8-puff, disposable DPI that can deliver total doses of up to 400 mg from 8 pre-filled drug compartments that hold 50 mg each.
In August 2019, Hovione Technology announced that it had partnered with Kiel University for development of dry powder antibiotics delivered via the 8Shot DPI and a 2-puff version, the TwinMax DPI.
Hovione Technology CEO Peter Villax commented, “The Red Dot jury’s experience and expertise evaluating outstanding product design and technical innovation for more than 60 years is unparalleled. This distinction awarded to our 8Shot DPI is a great success for Hovione Technology.”
Director of Technology Development and Licensing João Ventura Fernandes added, “We are extremely proud and delighted to accept the Red Dot Product Design Award, together with our design and development partner WeADD. The 8Shot DPI is uniquely positioned to make available off-the-shelf to pharmaceutical companies a patented high payload DPI to deliver inhaled biologics, antibiotics, anti-virals, vaccines, pain or rescue treatments requiring high-dose drug delivery.”
