Exhibition
Several of the exhibitors in the technology exhibition addressed some of the meeting themes in their stand design. Many delegates stopped by the Koura (formerly Mexichem) stand to learn more about HFA 152a. Koura experts Stuart Corr and Tim Noakes first presented data on the potential of HFA 152a as a lower carbon footprint propellant at DDL 27 in 2016, and they were on hand to provide updates on the status of testing and to advise MDI developers who wanted to know more about formulation with 152a.
The PA Consulting stand took up the sustainability theme, with a stand made from recycled plastic. PA’s exhibits included objects made from various substances based on renewable resources such as a drinking straw made from alginate and a container made from a cellulosic material.
Team Consulting acknowledged DDL’s 30th anniversary with a timeline of inhalation devices introduced over the past few decades depicted as constellations. The stand also had a “party mode” where the design’s embedded LED lights switched from steady white stars to flashing in a variety of colors.
Evidence of recent consolidation in OINDP companies was also on display in the technology exhibition along with the latest evolutions in services and products. The Copley Scientific stand, for example, prominently featured the Vertus shake and fire system from Novi Systems, which was acquired by Copley in April 2019.
Aptar Pharma’s stand featured inhaler training products from Noble International, which it acquired a month earlier. Other recent Aptar acquisitions Nanopharm and Gateway Analytical had stands side by side with another Aptar company, Next Breath; Aptar promoted the potential of the three companies as a single source for services during the meeting.
