Kind Consumer has announced the UK launch of its breath activated Voke 0.45mg nicotine inhaler, which will be available to consumers by direct online purchase at a price of £11.99. The Voke inhaler was approved by the MHRA for general sale for the relief or prevention of nicotine cravings and withdrawal symptoms in September 2014.
In January 2017, British American Tobacco subsidiary Nicovations (previously Nicoventures), which had licensed Voke and had contracted with Bespak for manufacture of the inhaler, canceled its agreement with Bespak citing a clause that allowed for cancellation if Voke had not been launched commercially by 31 December 2016.
Nicovations then returned the Voke rights to Kind Consumer. At the time, Kind Consumer said that it was looking for a new partner for distribution of the product.
Kind Consumer CEO Alan Sutherland commented, “With 7.2 million smokers in the UK still using tobacco and 3.2 million people trying alternative nicotine delivery systems, it is clear there is still a need for new options that help people on the difficult journey to stop smoking or to cut down. Voke is a tremendously exciting innovation that is coming on to the market at a perfect time with the potential to make a difference to many lives, and will challenge people’s perceptions by providing rapid, craving relief to smokers.”
