3P Innovation launches new robotic capsule and device filler

3P Innovation has announced the launch of a new version of its R500 Robotic Capsule and Device Filler which is scalable and capable of filling inhalers directly as well as filling capsules. According to 3P, the filler can now be used for commercial production as well as for clinical development of both pure API inhalation powders and blended formulations.

The filler uses 3P’s Fill2Weight (F2W) modular powder dispensing system, allowing for scale up by the addition of extra F2W heads. A twin-head configuration, called R1000 can fill 500-1,000 capsules per hour.

3P Inovation Business Development Director Simon Strothers commented, “One of our main aims of the new R500 derivative was to create a truly flexible and scalable solution, that would provide scalability from clinical supply through to commercial production. I’m delighted that we’ve now achieved this and the same technology used for laboratory development can be leveraged into the full production environment. This will enable our customers to speed up the clinical development phase while improving accuracy and reducing production costs.”
