Device manufacturer H&T Presspart has received its first European patent for the eMDI connected metered dose inhaler, the company said.
The eMDI contains sensors that record inhaler usage and transmits data to Cohero Health’s BreatheSmart inhaler tracking and lung function measurement platform via Bluetooth. The European patent covers the method used by the eMDI to verify that an actuation was completed properly so that the device dispensed a full dose.
H&T Presspart and Cohero Health introduced the eMDI in April 2016 and officially launched the inhaler at DDL 27 in December 2016.
According to the company, a number of additional patent applications for the eMDI have been filed.
