PARI has announced that it has begun supplying nebulizer compressors to patients using its new Kitabis Pak through a program called PARI Provide. Kitabis Pak, which includes generic tobramycin inhalation solution packaged with a PARI LC PLUS nebulizer, was approved by the FDA for the treatment P. aeruginosa infections in cystic fibrosis patients in December 2014. The compressor being supplied is the DeVilbiss Pulmo-Aide model 5650D.
PARI USA President Geoff Hunziker said, “Kitabis Pak makes taking nebulized tobramycin easier because it is one prescription for both the drug and nebulizer handset. Distribution delays are eliminated because both the drug and nebulizer handset are dispensed together. PARI Provide takes the program one step further by providing patients with the only FDA approved compressor to deliver tobramycin inhalation solution.”
The company says that the cost of Kitabis Pak is similar to the cost of generic tobramycin alone. According to GoodRx.com, one kit, which includes 56 ampules of inhalation solution plus the nebulizer, sells for approximately $5,835-$6,350 if the patient has a discount coupon. The cost of the compressor is about $90-130.
