GSK has relied heavily on social media to get out the word that its Flonase fluticasone propionate nasal spray is now available over the counter in the United States. The FDA approved Flonase OTC in July 2014.
On February 4, 2015, Flonase Twitter and Facebook accounts announced the availability of the product.

GSK also tweeted a link to an article on its web site promoting the new OTC product with the tag line “Switching a product from a prescription medicine to over the counter (OTC) is nothing to sniff at” and boasting of the amount of research involved.
The article refers consumers to a Tumblr account where the company has posted a video emphasizing the amount of data it collected to convince the FDA to approve Flonase for OTC sales.
