Inhalation Asia has announced that nicotine delivery, smoking cessation, and the treatment of tuberculosis will be among the topics addressed at IA15, to be held this September in Shenyang, China.
Plenary speakers for the meeting include Hon Lik, who is credited as the inventor of the e-cigarette, and T.H. Lam of Hong Kong University’s School of Public Health, who research focuses on the health impacts of smoking. Hon Lik’s talk will be titled, “e-Cigarettes, the argument in favor,” and Prof. Lam will speak about “Electronic cigarettes: a major controversy in public health.
The third plenary speaker, Guy Marks of the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research at the University of Sydney, will present a lecture titled, “TB control in the Asia-Pacific region: a need for new approaches.”
Other topics on the program include updates on clinical practices and markets in Asia, new developments in pharmaceutical sciences, and sessions on recent advances in inhalation technology in both the West and the East.
Inhalation Asia was founded in 2012 and held its first meeting in Hong Kong in 2013. The organizers describe it as “a non-commercial conference that aims to provide an opportunity for people who work on pulmonary and intranasal drug delivery in Asia to network and showcase their research, products and services.”
