Device manufacturer Gerresheimer has announced that it is adding 60,000 sq ft to its production facility in Peachtree City, GA in order to accommodate increased demand for inhalers and other plastic medical devices. Approximately 40,000 sq ft of the expansion will be devoted to ISO class 8 clean room space.
The company says that it will spend “double digit million dollars” on the expansion and plans to hire approximately 120 new employees at all levels, ranging from production to executive positions. Gerresheimer has been manufacturing at the Peachtree City facility since 1993 and added a Technical Competence Center in 2009.
Gerresheimer management board member Andreas Schütte commented, “We’re experiencing worldwide growth in demand for user friendly, safe and easy to use medical devices such as inhalers and insulin pens. As a result of this growth, and new customer projects, our excellent plans in Peachtree City will be significantly increasing its production capacity. There are a great many opportunities for us in this business segment in the US, and our Peachtree City facility will play a crucial role in helping us to exploit them.”
