Key Accountabilities and responsibilities:
• Proactively scan the external environment to identify and evaluate scientific and technological developments relevant to the Inhalation business.
• Develop information exchanges with biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical groups, academic institutions, government agencies and other groups as appropriate.
• Take part in scientific and business partnering conferences.
• Ensures the timely completion and proper prioritization of analytical activities on budget.
• Partners with other functions (Finance, IT, Sales & Marketing) to translate new business opportunities into strong collaborations and partnerships.
• Pull together and showcase our vast Inhalation product testing experience and tie it into rest of our service offerings within cGMP labs, PPD labs and clinical businesses.
• Willingness and ability to be personally involved in the development and mentoring of leaders and top scientists.
• Participates in succession planning for management positions and in the recruitment and/or development of new talent for positions.
• Ensuring staff operates under GMP compliance where necessary
• Direct oversight of Managers, Associate Directors and Principal Scientists.
• Coordination of Inhalation Products laboratory group activities (e.g. pMDI, Dry Powder Inhalers, Aqueous Nasal Spray and solutions for Inhalation and devices)
• Strong understanding with GMP practices for analytical laboratories.
• Strong knowledge of the drug development process for Inhalation and intranasal drug products.
• Strong technical understanding of in-vitro data for Inhalation products.
• Connected in the industry through focus groups or working groups by driving industry presence. Publish, present and be involved in appropriate professional associations.
Specialized Knowledge:
• Demonstrated creative thinker, ability to see the “big picture” with ability to synthesize and communicate strategies for delivering on company goals.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional teams and deliver results in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment.

Education and Experience:
• BS in Chemistry or related field.
• 6-10 years of experience as technical department manager, facility manager in a technical field or equivalent combination of educations, training and experience that proved the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Preferred:
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Chemistry or Biochemistry
• 15+ years of industry experience is preference, with focus on Inhaled products.
• 10+ years managing groups.
• Leads strategically and collaboratively and believes in a strong service culture.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
