Advocacy organization Allergy & Asthma Network Mothers of Asthmatics (AANMA) has announced that Tonya Winders will take over as Chief Executive Officer as of January 1, 2014. She succeeds founder Nancy Sander, who retired in September 2013. The organization also announced that its headquarters has moved to new offices in Tysons Corner, VA.
Winders, who joined AANMA in January 2013, said, “My personal and professional passion is to preserve the quality of allergy and asthma care by keeping patients at the center of the discussion. With its priority to eliminate needless death and suffering due to asthma and allergies, AANMA is well-positioned to help others live and breathe better.”
According to the organization, “Since joining AANMA, Winders has strengthened partnerships with leaders of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology to address challenges currently facing the specialty throughout the United States. She has also established partnerships with the American Association for Respiratory Care, Association of Asthma Educators and American Academy of Physician Assistants in Allergy, Asthma & Immunology to spread awareness and preparedness messages to patients and caregivers.”
