Dutch pharmaceutical compliance specialist Timer Designs has announced the launch of the Compliance Cradle for Advair/Seretide Diskus inhalers. The device monitors the presence of the Diskus and alerts patients to take a dose of the medication if the inhaler remains situated in the cradle past the scheduled dosing time.
The Compliance Cradle utilizes an optical sensor to determine whether the inhaler has been removed. If the patient removes the Diskus at the proper time, the cradle does nothing. If the inhaler remains in the cradle, the device sounds an alarm.
Timer Designs Project Manager Maarten Warbout commented, “We are excited to offer this unique tool for the COPD patient which really helps to improve adherence. And the Compliance Cradle is only there when the patient tends to forget. A feature which is highly valued by the Compliance Cradle users. In the next months we plan to adapt this new technology into Compliance devices for products of other pharmaceutical brands.”
