Gerresheimer is adding 3,500 square meters to its medical plastics facility in Horsovsky Tyn, Czech Republic, at a cost of about €18 million, adding to a previously announced expansion at the site. According to the company, it will hire approximately 200 more personnel over the next two years to handle increased production of inhalers and other devices at the site.
Gerresheimer CEO Uwe Röhrhoff commented, “Global demand for simple and safe products for the precise dosage and administration of medications such as asthma inhalers and insulin pens is increasing all the time. Our Plastic Systems Division is one of the world leaders in this field. The scope and volume of our project work has increased considerably over the last six months. That’s why we decided to make another significant extension to our Czech plant. We will be investing in additional production capacity, the optimization of our production and logistics operations and reduce our energy consumption so that we can achieve further growth. The Czech plant in Horsovsky Tyn is developing very positively.”
Construction at the Czech site should be completed in 2013, and the company is also currently expanding its plant in Pfreimd, Germany. In light of its continued growth, Gerresheimer has raised its revenue forecast for 2012.
