Gateway Analytical, a subsidiary of ChemImage Corporation, held a grand opening celebration at its new facility in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania on April 12, 2011. The 3,000-sq ft cGMP facility actually opened for business in October, 2010, offering services for the forensics, materials, and pharmaceutical industries. The festivities were meant to take place on February 1, but bad weather had forced the company to reschedule.
With the weather cooperating, the rescheduled grand opening included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, tours of the laboratories, and a series of talks by industry experts.
Services once provided to inhalation and nasal drug developers and manufacturers by ChemImage are now available from Gateway.
According to marketing manager Linda Batykefer, “We have a unique set of service offerings that will benefit the OINDP community including improved particle sizing methods to address critical path initiatives for bioequivalence testing of nasal sprays as well as pharmaceutical forensics services to help our customers quickly address nonconformance and deviation investigations.”
In addition, she notes that the company has partnered with other contract laboratories to provide a full range of OINDP development and testing needs.
Tours of the laboratory during the grand opening included a trip to the sample preparation lab for a look at one of the company’s special services, ingredient specific particle sizing (ISPS), using parent company ChemImage’s Raman chemical imaging instruments. Gateway will be presenting a workshop on this topic at RDD Europe.
The new company also offers regulatory consulting services, application development for a wide variety of imaging techniques, and business development and marketing support.
