A vacancy exists for an Engineering Operations Manager within the Steriles and Inhalations Business Unit at Barnard Castle. Reporting to the Business Unit Director, the successful applicant will be responsible for managing all aspects of Engineering and Sterility Assurance Unit (SAU) activities within the Business Unit aligned to site engineering strategy.
Key Responsibilities will include:
• Leadership and development of the Engineering and SAU team to deliver the business unit objectives ensuring compliant operations in accordance with company and regulatory standards (Engineering, Quality and EHS).
• Development of skills and process knowledge within the Team especially critical sterilisation technologies and aspects of engineering impacting environmental control performance.
• Lead engineering and operational improvement activities to plant, machinery, services and procedures to deliver the Engineering Maintenance strategy & Business Unit KPI (OEE improvements, waste reduction etc)
• Provision of effective day to day maintenance plans / services for all equipment & plant within the Business unit, ensuring that any interruption caused by failure or non-availability of machinery is minimised.
• Ownership and effective maintenance of GXP utilities and associated Plant within C Block (WFI, Pure Steam, Purified Water etc).
• Ownership of the Business Unit capital and maintenance revenue budgets working with Site Engineering Director and Business Unit Director to develop future plans.
• Energy usage and delivery of energy reduction initiatives within the Business Unit.
• Ensuring statutory, regulatory and site Engineering standards are clearly communicated, trained and adhered to by engineering teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
• Engineer educated to degree level
• Demonstrable in depth experience in pharmaceutical engineering operations associated with aseptic processing.
• Demonstrable experience working to standards required for regulatory compliance of Aseptic Processing facilities including FDA, MHRA audit preparation and management.
• Broad understanding of engineering and process knowledge associated with various sterilisation technologies, aseptic fill standards, GXP utilities and associated pharmaceutical processes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with a wide range of people and levels both inside and outside the Business Unit
• Proven leadership skills of multi functional teams.
• Demonstrable capability to drive process / engineering improvements for business benefit.
• Good mindsets and behaviors to embrace the Barnard Castle Site Transformation.
The following would be advantageous:
• Pharmaceutical engineering qualification e.g. PEAT MSc
• Chartered Engineer status
• Delivery of a significant improvement project utilising OE tools & techniques.
• Project management experience.
